Bushtec, suppliers of high quality camping equipment provided Morné and Louis with tents, sleeping bags and back packs. These items are designed and built for the rugged African terrain - to make sure that you are rugged enough to survive!
Johan Loots from PaddleYak Sea Kayak Store sponsored a two man PaddleYak Swift Hybrid Adventure Kayak. This versatile kayak offers a combination of stability and speed, which makes it the ideal craft for the notoriously large waves of Lake Tanganyika. A number of kayaking accessories are also provided.
Troisport provided the paddlers with quick drying Zoot sport shirts to paddle in.
Global Com Satellite provided the kayakers with the use of an Iridium 9505 satellite phone. This phone allows the user telephonic and data contact from anywhere on the planet. It was used to provide regular updates to this site and to stay in touch with loved ones.
Wag Hill, an ecofriendly Lodge, offers the ultimate in privacy and seclusion, providing an opportunity to relax, unwind, fish and explore one of the last indigenous environments on the shores of Lake Victoria, Tanzania. Wag Hill Lodge is situated on 17.3 hectares of protected indigenous forest and is dedicated to fostering the natural environment of Lake Victoria.
Wag Hill donated all the mosquito nets that the paddling duo handed out to mothers with babies and toddlers at a local clinic in Kigoma. Mosquito nets are very needed to help fight Malaria.
Tytan Solar and LED Warehouse is suppliers of photovoltaic systems and sponsored the team with a portable solar panel to power their electronic devices with renewable energy.
Cameraland Sandton City provided the team with video camera equipment at significantly reduced rates. This video footage captured the experience, interactions and the emotions that the team experienced during this epic first ever expedition.
First Ascent, the manufacturers of outdoor clothing, camping equipment and mosquito nets, has opened their heart to this project. They donated a number of mosquito nets which were distributed to mothers with babies and toddlers who live next to the lake.
