The expedition was broken into four stages:
Stage 1: Mpulungu Bay (Southern end of lake, in Zambia) to Kipili, where Morné and Louis rested a day at Chris and Louise Horsfall's Lake Tanganyika Adventure Safaris lodge.
Stage 2: Kipili to Mahale National Park (home to 700 wild chimpanzees) - the team was very fortunate to spend some time with some chimpanzees in Mahale.
Stage 3: Mahale National Park to Kigoma. Morné and Louis met up with friends Bill and Robyn in the town of Kigoma. This is also where Brent joined the duo for the last stretch.
Stage 4: Kigoma to Bujumbura (capital of Burundi, located at the northern end of the lake). In Bujumbura Morné, Louis and Brent were received in a celebrating fashion by Bill and Robyn and a number of friends from Burundi.
